Movie: Vennela 1½ Movie Review
Rating : 1.25/5
Cast : Chaitanya Krishna,Monal Gajjar,Vennela Kishore,Brahmanandam
Music Director : Sunil Kashyap
Director : Vennela Kishore
Producer : Vasu,Varma
Story :
Kadar (Kishore) and Sunil (Madhu) are forced to move to Bangkok for six months. They run into Krishna (Chaitanya) and Yuvak (Harish). Krishna (Chaitanya Krishna) is a fun loving guy. He turns in to a love guru there. People employs him to solve love problems like uniting and separating couples. On a separate track, Vennela (Monal Gajjar) is a student in Bangkok. She gets engaged to Shravan (Shravan), a boring robotics expert. Then arises the actual problem, Krishna will be employed to spoil the match. Then what he does and what drastic turns their lives take forms the actual story.
Performance :
Chaitanya Krishna is always a good actor and he lived up to the expectations. He easily got in to the skin of the character and carried it fluently. However, there is never a moment in the film which test the mettle of his capabilities. The character just goes on in a lighter vein. Monal Gajjar looked cute on screen and is good in whatever she is offered
Brahmanandham and Thagubothu Ramesh was greeted with thunderous laughs. There are several other comedy actors like Dhanraj and Master Bharath are okay
Technical Performances :
This is the first movie of Vennela Kishore as director. And he had done every thing wrong from the scratch. Any film maker should bank on the story of a movie primarily for the success of a movie. Movie making is not about getting few scenes with comedy and weaving them together and getting a 2 – 2 1/2 hour movie. This is what Kishore had done. This kind of work may not give him the expected results. Sunil Kashyap’s music is good. Suresh Bhargav had made good use of the digital technology and had delivered good output within the limitations. Editing by Dharmendra is patchy
Final Verdict :
The first thing in question is why the movie is called a sequel to Vennela According to me its a cheap publicity stunt. Vennela Original itself is a okayish type movie and comparing it with this sequel is nothing but belittling the original. With all due respects to the new film makers springing in the digital era, people like Vennela Kishore should learn to respect the audience They can not take the audience for granted and can not believe that sleaze and cheap comedy sells any time. This movie is a horrendous experience for me. I advise to you stay out!
