Nayak Movie Review

Film: Naayak
Rating:3.25/5
Starring: Ram Charan,Kajal Agarwal,Amala Paul
Director: VV.Vinayak
Producer: DVV Danayya
Banner: Universal Media
Music: Thaman

Story:

Cherry (Ram Charan), a software engineer and a happy go lucky guy falls for Madhu (Kajal Aggarwal), a local don Gandipeta Babji’s (Rahul Dev) sister while saving his uncle Jilebi (Brahmanandam) from Babji. On the other hand, a series of murders will take place in Hyderabad and CBI team suspects Cherry and when cops trap him, the situation leads to unexpected twist. How does Cherry gets free from situations forms the crux of the story.

Performances:

Ram Charan has delivered a matured performance and his dances are a visual treat to watch out for. His voice modulation and comic timing are more improved. Ram Charan carried off the dual roles with much ease

Kajal Agarwal looked gorgeous and she acted well. Her scenes with Ram Charan have come out quite well.

Amala Paul has limited role but she looked good. She danced well in the Hey Naayak song while her Subhalekha Rasukunna song was one of the highlights of the movie.

Brahmanandam as Jilebi and Jaya Prakash Reddy rocked the screens in the first half with brilliant comic timing. Posani Krishna Murali is entertaining in the second half along with MS Narayana. Rahul Dev, Pradeep Rawat, Dev Gill are decent, Rajeev Kanakala makes his mark.

Technical Analysis:

Chota K Naidu cinematography is brilliant and the songs scored by Thaman are superbly shot in the exotic beautiful locales. Thaman’s background score helps in elevating scenes. Akula Shiva’s dialogues are fine. Editing by Gautam Raju is good. Production values are lavish.

Analysis:

Naayak don’t offer you uniqueness or freshness in terms of story but provides you the needed entertainment quotient with no boring moments. The pace of the movie is quite fast which helped in the proceedings. Director Vinayak played it safe with the regular commercial formula of the right mix of action, love and entertainment. While Ram Charan amazes with his dances, action and emotional scenes, actors Brahmanandam, Jayaprakash Reddy, Posani Krishna Murali and MS Narayana provides ample entertainment. All the songs have been brilliantly shot and the movie is technically sound. Despite few loopholes and cinematic liberties, the right mix of ample commercial elements works well for Naayak. The first half of the movie moves with good comedy by Brahmanandam and Jaya Prakash Reddy and Charan-Kajal scenes while interval block gets interesting and the film gets a bit predictable in the second half with the twist being revealed. Nevertheless, the mass elements and entertainment quotient is high in Naayak which would one expect from mass entertainers.

Final Verdict:

Ram Charan scores it again with perfect formulaic entertainer!!!
