Today is the 90th Jayanthi of Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao garu, or Anna garu as he is fondly known. The legendary Telugu actor and politician was born into a small farming family in Krishna District on 28th May 1923. With a career spanning more than four decades, NTR rose to prominence as the Telugu Film Industry’s most prominent personality.
As recognised in the recent ’100 Years of Indian Cinema’ celebrations, NTR has acted in some of the most pathbreaking Telugu films of all time. Movies like ‘Pathala Bhairavi’, ‘Maya Bazaar’, ‘Missamma’, ‘Gundamma Katha’ , ‘Ramudu – Bheemudu’, ‘Dana Veera Soora Karna’ etc. are movies that have stood the test of time.
NTR was known for his mythological roles. Apart from portraying the roles of Lord Rama and Krishna with great skill, he was known for showcasing negative characters like Ravana and Duryodhana in a heroic way.
